ELIGIBILITY

• Open to VSGA members of all ages.
• All participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA member club in good standing.
• All participants must meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.

ENTRY FEES/DEADLINES

Qualifying

Players competing in one of the first 10 qualifiers (may only enter one) are required to submit an entry form with the proper entry fee by Monday, May 22, 2023.  Entry fees are as follows: 

• Amateur Championship Qualifying Only - $115 
• State Open Qualifying Only - $115 
• Both Qualifiers - $180
  • Entry fee includes mandatory course fee for qualifying round.
  • $80 of qualifying fees will be applied to the championship entry for successful qualifiers.
  • The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host clubs.

Last Chance Qualifier

Players competing in the Last Chance Qualifier are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $135 by 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023. 

• Entry fee includes mandatory course fee for qualifying round.
• $80 of qualifying fees will be applied to the championship entry for successful qualifiers.
• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host clubs.

 

Successful Qualifiers

Those who successfully qualify are required to pay the entry balance of $200 by Friday, June 16, 2023

• Entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition.
• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

Exempt Players

Exempt players competing in the championship are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $280 by Monday, May 22, 2023.

• Entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition.
• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

FORMAT

Qualifying

• All non-exempt players must qualify to play in each championship.
• A player may only compete in one (1) qualifier.
• The total number of participants at each qualifier will vary by site and will be filled by lowest Handicap Index as of May 22, 2023.
• The number of qualifying spots available at each qualifier will be determined based on participation and will be announced on-site.

 

Championship Proper - 120 Players (includes all qualifiers and exempt players)

June 26-27 – Stroke play qualifying (18 holes per day); the low 32 players advance to match play

June 28 – Rounds one and two of match play

June 29 – Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches

June 30 – 36-hole match play final

 

PRIZES

• The Champion and Finalist receive gift certificates and trophies.
• All match play qualifiers receive gift certificates.
• On-site qualifying medalist(s) will receive a VSGA medal.
